“This song is about resurrecting the dead that were condemned by god. Corpses become masters of chaos, rising to become a part of hell’s army to destroy their land and all things divine. This is one of the hardest and most aggressive songs on the record, relentless with its speed in the beginning and crushing heaviness at the end.”

Die in Michigan ansässigen Crossover-Death-Thrasher PLAGUE YEARS werden am 18. September über Entertainment One ("eOne") ihr neues Album "Circle Of Darkness" veröffentlichen.
Die Metalpresse spricht bereits in hohen Tönen über die Death Trasher aus Michigan. Für Fans von Power Trip und Gatecreeper ist das neue Album von Plague Years ein MUSS!
Der Sound erinnert dabei an die frühen Werke von Kreator (Endless Pain) und Obituary (Slowly We Rot).
Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) zählte die EP „Unholy Infestation“ zu seiner Top 100 im Jahr 2018. Dieser Meinung war auch ein Schreiber von Metal Injektion.
Für das neue Album „Circle Of Darkness“ arbeitete die Band wieder mit dem Produzenten Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange, Pissgrave) zusammen.
Neben dem klassischem Death und Trashmetal Sound bedient Plague Years sich an dem klassischen Detroiter- Hardcore-Sound. In Songs wie „Paradox Of Death“ und „Play The Victim“ werden die klassischen Death-Metal und Gore Thematiken aufgegriffen.
Revolver äußert sich wie folgt in ihrem Magazin zu dem Sound von Plague Years:
PLAGUE YEARS “rips hard,” a compulsive death charge right into the fiery mouth of Hades. “Just try not to bang your head. We dare you.”
Das Decibel Magazine ergänzt: “Like contemporaries Power Trip, PLAGUE YEARS turn chugging into an art form, making simple stomps feel like genuine riffs. The chugs bookend a thrasher of a song, which blazes as often as much as it breaks it down. Vocalist Tim Engelhardt sounds somewhere between Max Cavalera and Jamey Jasta. The music is similarly right between the metal and hardcore worlds; you’ll almost surely be able to find either side if you’re listening for it.”
Der Gittarist Eric Lauder beschreibt das neue Album wie folgt: “With this record I wanted to carve our own lane in metal. It’s darker, heavier, faster, and everyone crushed it from the performance to the production. This song is about that narcissistic person in everyone’s life. Someone who seems incredibly loyal but is just a shell of person filled with darkness. You show them the same loyalty, but they stab you in the back. Then when it comes time to confront them they manipulate the situation and ‘Play The Victim.”
