URNE announce new album "A Feast On Sorrow"
Set for release on August 11th via Candlelight Records – pre-orders live now.
First single, "Becoming The Ocean" revealed today.
London metal trio, URNE, have today announced details of their deeply personal second studio album, A Feast On Sorrow. Due for release on August 11th 2023 via Candlelight Records, A Feast On Sorrow is a stark rumination on the grim inevitabilities of disease, dementia and deterioration in old age, felt intimately by Urne frontman, Joe Nally.
Joe Duplantier, frontman of modern metal goliaths, Gojira, unexpectedly reached out to the band directly, - having been a fan of the band’s debut album, Serpent & Spirit - offering Urne the opportunity to record with him at his Silver Cord studio in Brooklyn, New York.
Joe Nally, Urne frontman adds; “We had many ups and downs throughout this process, but the end result is something the three of us are extremely proud of. Having the honour to travel to New York to work alongside Joe Duplantier and Johann Meyer on this record is something we didn’t think would be possible and, on top of that, to have Ted Jensen master this record, has been an experience we once dreamed of. This whole album is extremely personal for me. It’s made me grow as a person and has also helped me understand the grieving process better than before. This isn’t a joyful or uplifting record, it’s very raw and real, and when the opportunity to work with Joe came to be, we all knew he was the perfect person to capture the message of this record.”
Additionally, Urne have released the first track taken from A Feast On Sorrow, titled ‘Becoming The Ocean.’ The track is arguably the most immediate entry into the maelstrom, using Nally’s life watching the waves batter England’s sweeping south coast as a metaphor for the pressure a family feels drowning in the suffering of one of their own.

Offering more detail on the songs meaning, Nally says; “‘Becoming The Ocean’ has ties to a move within my life that was supposed to bring my family joy and a new life. Sadly, it hasn’t been as smooth as we all hoped. I walk by the ocean every day and something with such beauty and grace, also holds such power and an ability to crush and destroy. The video was shot in Pembrokeshire, Wales. This beach is known for a rock formation called Church Rock which works perfectly with the lyrical content of this song.”
Urne will debut new music at Incineration festival, Camden, London, on May 13th, where they will open the stage at Electric Ballroom. They will also make a mainstage appearance at this years’ Bloodstock festival, taking place at its usual stomping ground of Catton Hall, Derbyshire, August 10th- 13th.
Meanwhile, fans across Europe will be able to witness Urne at one of several shows in support of Gojira, in addition to some summer festivals. A full list of announced appearances detailed below.

Urne – A Feast On Sorrow [2023]
There are times in life when it feels like darkness will consume the light. Suffering. Loss. The emptiness that follows. At a distance, we can steel ourselves against the grim inevitabilities of disease, dementia and deterioration in old age, but when more intimately faced with their impact, it becomes easy to imagine some hidden demon gorging on the misery wrought. From such pain was birthed Urne’s savage second album A Feast On Sorrow.
“There were a lot of dark times,” sighs frontman Joe Nally. “Losing people is a horrible thing; when the reality hits, it shocks. I was full of pent-up emotion – anger, confusion – and I could only seem to release that through aggression. This is much darker. There were quite a few ‘fun’ elements to our first LP Serpent & Spirit. There aren’t many of those here.”
Alongside mercurial guitarist Angus Neyra and newly-recruited master drummer James Cook, the mission was to create something definitive. Unexpectedly, they’d be assisted in that by Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier – already a vocal fan of the band – who invited the Londoners to record at his Silver Cord studio in Brooklyn, New York and came onboard to produce. From blistering opener The Flood Came Rushing In and the brutalist introspection of To Die Twice to epic 11-minute pillars A Stumble Of Words and The Longer Goodbye/Where Do The Memories Go, the blend of wreckage and release is utterly breath-taking.
“The personal story I’m telling in this album is still ongoing, but it feels like I’ve been able to say what I needed to say,” Nally concludes. “It was an incredibly cathartic experience to be able to write this album, to scream it, to hear it back. I’ve got my emotions out. I’ve got my meaning out. I’ve got my message out. What I needed to do is done.”

SAUL announce new album "This Is It... The End Of Everything"
New album arrives on July 28 via Spinefarm.
Band shares video for "A Million Miles" — WATCH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URGCqZEherE
Iowa hard rock heavyweights SAUL — brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums] — have announced their new album THIS IS IT... THE END OF EVERYTHING. The album arrives July 28 via Spinefarm.
To herald the album's announcement, the band has shared the video for first single "A MILLION MILES." Watch it here:
"The distance between us is no longer measured in inches, feet, or miles," says Blake about the song. "It's the void in time between looking up from our screens and locked in a dream. A minimal space we keep for reality. Just a moment to see the difference of where we are, and where we want to be. We can sit across from someone within reach, and be a million miles away transported through our screens."
The album encompasses a similar theme. Blake shares, "As a whole, we're losing focus. I feel like the only one to look up and notice. Am I losing my mind or losing touch with the times? It's a game we can’t win when the rules always change. Marching toward the end of days. This is it… the end of everything."
The Iowa quartet continues to bring audiences together with a one-two punch of pummeling metallic grooves and towering melodies. Amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more, the group fortify an unbreakable bond with listeners on their second full-length offering, THIS IS IT…THE END OF EVERYTHING [Spinefarm]. For this record, the band collaborated with producer Kile Odell [Motionless In White, Nita Strauss]
"As a society, we're so glued to our phones and social media," notes Blake. "When we finally got out of quarantine, we personally needed to take a mental break from it. If you think about it, we don't even have to talk anymore, since communication happens online. So, step back from social media, get out there, shake hands, and live a little bit. You don't have to exist through your phone. Capture the moment in your head and tell the story out loud to someone."
Saul emerged out of the Midwest in 2017 and tirelessly bulldozed a path to the forefront of modern rock. They notably performed alongside everyone from Motionless In White, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Crown The Empire, Bush, and 10 Years to HELLYEAH and Nonpoint in addition to gracing the stages of festivals, including Rebel Rock, Rock Fest, Rock USA, Inkcarceration, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest with Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. The group independently landed a bona fide hit in the form of "Brother"— an homage to the co-founders' late brother Caleb. It marked their first #1 on Sirius/XM Octane in addition to gathering over 9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for their 2020 full-length debut, Rise As Equals. Co-written with David Draiman of Disturbed, "King Of Misery" reeled in 3.7 million Spotify streams, while "Trial By Fire" also surpassed 3 million Spotify streams. Of the former, American Songwriter praised "'King of Misery' wasted no time jumping into the heavy mainstream riffs that Saul set out to wrangle," and Outburn hailed its "futuristic and cinematic video."

HAUNT THE WOODS' Jonathan Stafford (vocals/guitar) comments: "'Fever Dream', arranged as an acoustic track and performed at Middle Farm Studio. Always a special experience recording to tape in the Middle Farm Live Room, something charming about the honesty and flaws of a single unedited take, you can almost hear the floorboards creak."
With elements as disparate as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, The Mars Volta, Queen and beyond, HAUNT THE WOODS are a curiously unique band.
In the deepest reaches of the English countryside there is a sublime sound emanating from the landscape, and its name is Haunt the Woods. Timely and yet oddly timeless, this surprisingly youthful quartet span musical decades and worlds.
Recently signed with Spinefarm, it won't be long before you hear plenty more from these musical mavericks, and with good reason. Formed in the hinterlands between Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, Haunt the Woods deftly interweave alt rock, folk, prog and pop with an epic level of pomp and poetic elegance that suggests a far longer tenure than their young years suggest. There are tips of the hat to Queen and Muse, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, and a sprinkled-in tinge of Beatles-loving pop sensibility and Manchester Orchestra-esque poignancy: Haunt the Woods have that rare ability to conjure legacy while creating a bold sound that is newly their own.
With two warmly received EPs and a debut album, Opaque (2020) which was released in 2020, the stage has been set for their overdue introduction to the world, which begins with their stunning new single 'Fever Dream'. Cinematic in scope, operatic in texture - it's a fitting illustration of the band's prowess and talent.
