DOODSESKADER präsentieren Single + Musik Video

DOODSESKADER, comprised of bassist/vocalist Tim De Gieter (Amenra, Much Luv Studio) and Sigfried Burroughs (Kapitan Korsakov, PAARD.), share the official “Who Will Pour The Blood On Me” music video from the impending release of their single and B-side “Who Will Pour The Blood On Me / Bathroom”.

Additionally, Doodseskader announce the debut of their own record label, 45 RECORDS. Doodseskader co-founder and vocalist Tim De Gieter comments: “All we want is for people to see us for who we really are and to connect with like-minded souls.”

The idea for “Who Will Pour The Blood On Me” was born after De Gieter was forced to revisit his roots during the filming of their music video for “FLF”, a single which the band released earlier in 2023. Faced with the bleak backdrop of the block of apartments in Brussels where spent much of his early adulthood struggling to make ends meet, the ethereal opening to “Who Will Pour The Blood On Me” came to Tim in a dream shortly thereafter. Confronted with how far both he and Burroughs have come since their troubled beginnings, the song explores concepts of learning to embrace one’s past while not letting it define their future. When Burroughs presented his half of the lyrics to De Gieter without having seen what had already been written, the text merged seamlessly together to create one whole, further underlining the duo’s perfect compatibility.

“Who Will Pour The Blood On Me” premiered live to a packed audience as the opener to the band’s set at this year’s Boomtown Festival in Ghent, Belgium, an outdoor festival which attracts thousands of visitors of the Ghent Festivals every year.

This is a song that only furthers the band’s underlying message: that even in our darkest days, in the moments that we feel most alone and isolated, there will always be somebody else that has experienced the same emotion - and only together can we push ourselves through it.

Tim De Gieter about the new single: "'Who Will Pour The Blood On Me' can be seen as a spiritual successor to our previous single 'FLF'. When we filmed that video, we went back to where I grew up and lived some of the most impactful moments of my youth. The next day, ‘Who Will Pour The Blood’ came to me as if in a dream. It hit me immensely hard how much I’ve been trying to break away from the hand I initially was dealt in life and how this band has granted me a glimpse of the inner peace I’ve been longing for since those days. After three years of Doodseskader, it seems like connecting with people and digging inward is hopefully leading to me being able to face life and myself.

The video is a visual metaphor for the song’s thematics. After years of hiding myself and my suffering behind a wall of humor and a clown-like personality, I’ve adopted to conceal my true self from the outside world. Sigfried returns to the house where he grew up, and both of us are dreaming of the ideal of self-acceptance and a better version of ourselves. Both of us get sucked into of a ceremonious depiction of transcendence through blood, representing how we weaponize our music and our affiliation. In the end the question remains, like in real life, if we’re really making progress, or if we’re just stuck in a cycle of trying."

"Who Will Pour the Blood on Me / Bathroom" is out November 2nd on 45 Records and available to stream on all major platforms.

MORE INFO:
DOODSESKADER (Dutch for “Death Squad”) is a merging of the minds of Tim De Gieter (Amenra, Much Luv Studio) and Sigfried Burroughs (Kapitan Korsakov, Paard).

Throughout their three years of existence, Doodseskader has been relentlessly pushing the envelope of what it means to be a “heavy” band. From the grunge-infused sludge on their EP “MMXX : Year Zero” to the punishing blend of hiphop and hardcore of their debut album “Year One” and the sonic onslaught of relentless rapping on standalone singles such as “FLF” and “Still Haven’t Killed Myself”, they’re breaking free of any form of categorization.

The duo has been compared to genre-defying trailblazers such as Ghostemane, Show Me The Body, and Ho99o9, however, they clearly bring their own sonic palette to the table.

The red thread in all of this has been their brutally honest and introspective lyrics. Far from your run-of-the mill type of band, Doodseskader uses their instrumentation as a sonic backdrop for the emotion and message they try to convey; their music serves as a mirror for life itself. Sometimes brutal, sometimes fragile, sometimes energizing, but always unexpected.

The release of “Who Will Pour The Blood On Me” / “Bathroom” showcases their concept in all of its glory. “WWPTBOM” sees the band trying to put an end to their inner turmoil and strive for self-acceptance as the song transitions from a tandem of Sigfried’s ethereal singing to Tim’s poignant raps on a bed of ominous bass and production into a crushing conclusion where both seemingly claim their place in this world through their music.

“Bathroom”, on the other hand, is situated on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. The Montell Fish cover is, just like the original, oozing with sensuality and a fitting soundtrack for a night filled with lust and heartbreak.

The two songs are two sides of the same coin, much like the band itself: Doodeskader's discography is quickly becoming synonymous with raw emotion, bringing about a new way of using the aesthetic of heavy music to dig deep into oneself and connect with people who cannot help but feel alike.

Live, Doodseskader proves to be an absolute must see; this has been translated into their sold out release show in Ancienne Belgique along with a sleuth of shows throughout Europe. The duo has proved their appeal time and time again, playing alongside acts like Brutus and Amenra and on the stages of festivals such as Hellfest (FR), Mystic Fest (PL), Lokerse Feesten (BE), Fluff Fest (CZ) and many more.
