We are glad that we have been given the opportunity to do these headliner shows in Europe as well, and we are looking forward to meet with both new fans and those who were around back in the day."

About the band:
Thyrfing is a Swedish metal band formed in 1995 in Stockholm. Their name comes from Tyrfing, the cursed sword of Norse mythology, and their music has always drawn heavily on Viking sagas, Norse lore, and dark mythological themes. From the very beginning, they carved out a place in the emerging Viking metal scene, blending aggressive riffs, growled vocals, and atmospheric keyboards with moments of folk-inspired melody.
The band released its self-titled debut in 1998, quickly followed by Valdr Galga (1999) and Urkraft (2000). These albums established them as a rising force in the Viking metal underground, with a sound that balanced ferocity and melody. Their 2002 release Vansinnesvisor is often seen as a landmark, weaving together harsh blackened elements with sweeping atmospheres. Later albums such as Farsotstider (2005) and Hels Vite (2008) took a darker, heavier direction. After some lineup changes, including the departure of original vocalist Thomas Väänänen, the band recruited Jens Rydén (ex-Naglfar), whose commanding vocal presence reshaped their sound.
Following a few quiet years, Thyrfing returned with De Ödeslösa in 2013 and, more recently, Vanagandr in 2021 — an album praised for its intensity, modern production, and faithful continuation of their Viking metal roots. Across their career, they have remained consistent in theme, delivering music steeped in mythology and a sense of timeless northern atmosphere.
Today, Thyrfing is recognized as one of the defining bands in Viking and pagan metal, respected for their longevity and commitment to their vision. Their 30-year anniversary in 2025 underlines just how enduring their legacy has been, with fans across generations continuing to embrace their powerful mix of aggression, melody, and myth.
