„Consecration“ is an album about a man cast into the grinding gears of others' ambitions. It isa story of blind submission, the madness of bloodshed, and the devourment of an identity.Grand ideals and lofty words amount to nothing but rivers of blood spilled in vain.Thou shalt seek neither rest nor death.
SOMN is a post-black metal band from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, initially formed in 2017 by guitarist Oleg Salnikov and drummer Timur Yusupov.
The lineup was soon completed by bassist Mikhail Kurochkin and guitarist Artem Selyugin, bringing together members of notable underground acts like Show Me A Dinosaur, TRNA, and Olhava.
Deriving their name from the god of sleep, the band creates conceptual music that channels traumas, deep fears, and nightmares.Their debut album, “The All-devouring,” was released on vinyl by Elusive Sound in 2019. This record is marked by intense, fevered performances and intricate songwriting that are monstrously evocative and physical in a way that transcends the band’s black metal and post-rock origins.
In 2022, Somn teamed up with fellow Saint-Petersburg band Wowod to release a split EP titled “Obrechenie.” Issued through Church Road Records, this latest release continued to showcase the band's menacing, heavy, and incredibly dynamic sound.
The new album – „Consecration“ - will be released on November 20th, via AOP Records.
