ELECTRIC GUITARS - neues Studioalbum veröffentlicht
Danish rockers ELECTRIC GUITARS release their brand-new studio album, “What Are We Waiting For”, today, via Mighty Music.
The band’s sixth studio album marks a new creative direction, with drummer Morten Hellborn taking over production duties and steering the band towards a more contemporary sound.
“I’ve wanted to take Electric Guitars into the future for a long time, if that makes sense; to leave the usual clichés behind and approach the band as if it were a brand-new project, free of rules and dogmas”, Morten declares. “Taking full responsibility for the album has been an incredible journey. Soren produces other artists for a living, Mika works with top producers every day, so I definitely had to stay on my toes. I simply went for the sound and production that I wanted to hear, and the two guitarists fully embraced it. We’re incredibly proud of this album”, he concludes.
Recorded at Medley Studios Copenhagen (where Soren himself has produced a plethora of artists, from D-A-D to Thundermother, from Marco Mendoza to Tygers Of Pan Tang), “What Are We Waiting For” is the first Electric Guitars album produced without founding members Soren Andersen and Mika Vandborg behind the controls. For the first time, the final mix was also entrusted to an outside collaborator, with former Duné member Ole Bjørn shaping the album’s modern, forward-looking sound.
“It was a real pleasure to let go of the responsibility for the production process and simply focus on being an artist this time”, Soren Andersen adds. “Instead of worrying about the technical side, I could concentrate on the songs, the performances, the expression and the energy. Morten encouraged us to introduce a lot more electronic elements, so I’ve been diving deep into synths and loops - something I’ve loved ever since growing up with Duran Duran and Depeche Mode”.
Despite its contemporary production, the album features more guitars than ever before, while deliberately moving away from traditional blues-based and classic rock formulas. After carefully evaluating every song, the band considers “What Are We Waiting For” its strongest collection of material to date.
